Control, Sea Of Thieves Shows Clips From Early Development
September 21, 2022
The Grand Theft Auto VI the leaks were big news for all sorts of reasonsbut one of the most interesting talking points was the re-ignition of a discussion about how “bad” a game would look in front of the public.
Like I said the other daywhile there have been and always will be assholes who say the dumbest shit, I think the vast majority of normal human beings, when confronted with images like the one we’ve seen of GTA VIthink either “neat” or “wow that’s really cool to see sausage made like that”.
Part of that fascination, of course, comes from the fact that we hardly ever get to see great games in such a state! And if the GTA the escape does nothing else, Hope this can at least help normalize the idea (at least among the general public) that, no, these games don’t look “bad” when working on them, they just look like they are being worked on.
Following the leaks and the wider discussion of visuals for a game being developed, a number of other developers and studios have come forward and shared images of this their the games looked like the beginning. And everything is great, down to the last picture.

Before going further, know that some of these comments you are about to see refer to the Tweet you see above, which was very bad and which, next to the GTA leak itself—prompted many developers to remove (or dig up) a lot of these images.
The first is Controls chief designer Paul Ehreth, who earlier today tweeted:
Since graphics are the first finished thing in a video game and CONTROL has won many awards for excellence in graphics, here are some early development footage 🙂
