Cyberpunk 2077 players request Stadia cloud saves from CD Projekt
Cyberpunk 2077 players are asking its developer CD Projekt to make Stadia save files available on the cloud.
The long-running RPG was available on Google’s Stadia platform, but now that it’s ending, players will no longer have access to their save files without cloud support.
However, it looks like players have found a solution.
“Can CD Projekt Red PLEASE also make cloud save available for Stadia? I care more about my save than a game refund,” reads a reddit post.
The thread replies detail a potential workaround instead of official cloud access.
Using Google Takeout, a service that allows users to retrieve data across Google platforms, some players were apparently able to download their save file and import it into the Steam and GoG versions of the game.
From there, players can access the game on other platforms via the cloud.
However, other players have struggled with this because Stadia is not listed as a data type in Google Takeout.
Eurogamer has contacted CD Projekt RED to confirm whether cloud access will be provided.
Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a resurgence in popularity recently, due to both bug fixes and updates, as well as the new Netflix anime Edgerunners.
It’s unclear how many Cyberpunk players are on Stadia, but not being able to transfer save files with hundreds of hours of playtime is undoubtedly heartbreaking.
