EA confirms Iron Man single-player game is in the works
EA has confirmed that it is developing a third-person action-adventure game Iron Man.
The project is underway at Star Wars Squadrons Motive studio, which is also developing the upcoming Dead Space remake.
The game – which doesn’t yet have a title – still seems a long way off, and EA lists it as being in pre-production. As with other recent early announcements, the confirmation appears to have been made to boost recruitment on the game (and also follows earlier rumors of its existence).
Developers working on the project include executive producer Olivier Proulx, who previously worked on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy for Square Enix, alongside Mass Effect veteran Ian Frazier.
A press release today promised an original story that “draws on the rich history of Iron Man, channeling the complexity, charisma and creative genius of Tony Stark, and allowing players to experience what it’s like to really play as Iron Man”.
Earlier reports suggested that several Marvel games were currently in the works at EA, including the Iron Man and Black Panther projects.
There’s also a Wolverine game in the works at Sony Spider-Man’s Insomniac Games studio.
“We’re thrilled to partner with the talented team at Motive Studio to bring their original take on one of Marvel’s most important, powerful and beloved characters,” the Marvel Games boss said today. Bill Rosemann. “Their experience delivering established worlds of entertainment and exciting gameplay – combined with their genuine passion for the armored icon – will fuel our quest to deliver a love letter to a legendary hero in the form of the ultimate video game. Iron Man.”
