Hollow Knight: Silksong is officially coming to PlayStation 4 and PS5
There’s good news for PlayStation-owning fans of developer Team Cherry’s sublime Metroidvania, Hollow Knight. Its highly anticipated sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong, has finally been confirmed for release on PS4 and PS5.
Hollow Knight: Silksong has, of course, been a long time coming, with the Cherry team first announcing the game in February 2019. Even now, some three and a half years later, details around Silksong remain limited, but we do at least know that it will offer a twist on its predecessor’s non-linear exploration, platforming and combat thanks to a new protagonist, Hornet, with his own distinct abilities.
Given how great the original Hollow Knight was, that’s still more than enough to warrant the excitement, and Switch, Xbox, and PC gamers could rest easy knowing that Silksong would – eventually, at least – be released. on their system to play.
PlayStation owners, however, have so far been left hanging, waiting for confirmation that Silksong will be heading to their platform of choice. But that day has now come, with official word of a PS4 and PS5 release now arriving courtesy of PlayStation on Twitter.
With all major platforms (and a Game Pass version) now catered for, that only leaves the small question of a launch date – which still remains elusive. All we know so far, thanks to a statement from Microsoft earlier this year, is that it should arrive sometime before June 13, 2023. Frankly, it can’t happen soon enough.
