While digital and physical sales of the Saints Row the reboot achieved a solid second place in the US and European markets, the open-world crime sim was denied the top spot by Madden NFL 23 and Grand Theft Auto V, respectively. Although second place is not bad, the Saints Row the reboot was actually a bit of a flop, at least as far as Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors was concerned.

As reported by GamesIndustry.biz7.7 million games sold in European territories tracked during the month of August and 2013 Grand Theft Auto V lead the pack. Saints Row came in second, sandwiched between Rockstar’s mega hit and FIFA 22. And in the United States, video game chronicle has the NDP stats, showing the crime reboot losing to Madden NFL 23. A whole duo: Madden NFL 23 had dire reviewsand GTA V came out (exhales) nine years ago.

To be fair, Saints Row was only launched on August 23, while GTA V was of course available throughout the month. (mad was released on August 19.) But Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors also seems very much behind on his performance. Axios” reports Stephen Totilo that during an investor call today, Wingefors described the crime sim reboot as “one of the toughest” for the company to see a return on. He hopes to see a “better reception” for the game and that while it has certainly won over some players, many others have not been convinced.

However, all was not dark and catastrophic. Wingefors pointed out that the company should “wait for the November quarterly report to have more details.” Responding to inquiries about the future of the franchise, Wingefors stressed his confidence in those working on the game and said any potential decisions are uncertain at this time.

2022 Saints Rowa reboot of the long-running open-world crime series, has been fighting an uphill battle for his somewhat polarizing revelation Last year. Although the series has always played second fiddle GTA titan, his reappearance was not very well received by critics and fansyet Kotakuby Zack Zwiezen found a pretty fun time.

It is one thing to contemplate what a modern Saints Row would need to look and succeed to be as popular with gamers as it once was; it’s quite another to consider how something at this point could topple something that remains as remarkably popular as Grand Theft Auto V. Apart, that is to say from his recently leaked in hell after.
