Siphon Filter 2 is the first PS Plus PS1 game with 50hz/60hz region switching
The arrival of PS1’s Siphon Filter 2 on PS Plus brings the ability to switch game regions between 50Hz and 60Hz.
This mechanism, spotted by VGC, now offers gamers the ability to switch game regions from 50Hz PAL (a significantly slower standard) to NTSC 60Hz via the Siphon Filter 2 settings menu.
You can see what this process looks like in the image below.
This comes after many were disappointed to find that option was missing from the service’s classic selection of games when PS Plus released in June.
At this time, Sony said it would provide “NTSC options for the majority” of these games in the future.
However, Sony did not specify when this change would occur, or specify which games were included in its plans.
“We plan to roll out NTSC options for the majority of classic games offered on the PlayStation Plus Premium and Deluxe plan in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, India, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand” , wrote Sony.
