Sony’s Gran Turismo Live-Action Movie Features Stranger Things’ David Harbor
Sony’s Gran Turismo movie continues to move forward, with Stranger Things star David Harbor having now joined the cast.
Sony’s live-action Gran Turismo adaptation was announced earlier this year, and confirmation of an August 11, 2023 release date for the film followed shortly after. Harbor is the first cast member to be officially revealed (thanks to The Hollywood Reporter) and he’ll be working alongside District 9 and Elyisum director Neill Blomkamp, who is helming the project.
Blomkamp will direct from a script by Jason Hall (American Sniper) and Zach Baylin (King Richard), which features the seemingly true story of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills put him on the path to becoming a professional racing driver.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, David Harbor has signed on to play a retired chauffeur who teaches the teenager to drive.
Gran Turismo is just one of many PlayStation game adaptations Sony has in the works, with Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Twisted Metal and The Last of Us all getting the TV treatment, while Ghost of Tsushima heads to the great filter.
